What I'm Reading...
Right now I'm reading Eat Pray Love. It is the author, Elizabeth Gilbert's autobiography about "finding herself" as she t
ravels through Italy, India, and Indonesia. I'm only a third of the way through the book, but thoroughly enjoying it. I absolutely love the way she writes. I would love to be able to travel the way she does in the book. I've only been out of the United States to Mexico...twice. It is definitely on my Bucket List to travel to several more countries. For now though, I will just have to live vicariously through her in this book.

The book has actually been made into a movie starring Julia Roberts and is set to be released in theaters on August 13, 2010. So, of course, my plan is to finish reading by this date so I can go watch the movie. I will then leave the theater criticizing and comparing the movie with the book....because as I know all too well from past experiences (The Other Boleyn Girl comes to mind): the movie is rarely as good as the book. But, I still intend to go watch.
13 Weeks
I am 13 weeks along today. I found a website I've been keeping up with that tells you a lot about what's going on with you and your baby on a week-to-week basis: http://www.thebump.comI can't help but find it amusing how they tell you some sort of fruit or other object for you to compare the size of your baby to each week. This week, my baby is the size of a peach! Ha!

First Ultrasound
My first prenatal appointment was last Friday. I made the appointment the day after we found out. I never thought the day would come. I was so ready for this first ultrasound. It's not like I needed verification... BELIEVE ME, I knew I was pregnant. I just had that feeling, besides the obvious, typical symptoms (although I do have to say, I have not had any sickness whatsoever YAY!). But to see our baby moving and kicking on that screen and to hear it's heartbeat was a whole new level of realization. It made everything just that much more real. I cried and I laughed. Of course Jade was with me and my mom as well. We were all smiles leaving that office.I was 12 weeks at this appointment and it was too early to find out the gender. We hope to get to find that out on my September visit. I'll be 20 weeks by that time. Let's just hope the baby cooperates!
We're Expecting!
On June 2nd, 2010, just two days after our 1 year anniversary, Jade and I found out we were going to be parents. Looking back on that day, it was such a flood of so many different emotions: happiness, excitement, surprise, nervousness, even disbelief (Jade made me take 3 tests, just to be sure. Ha!) I've always imagined what it would be like to find out I'm going to be a mom, but the feeling I got the moment I looked at that plus sign was unlike anything I had imagined. I will never forget this day.I'll never forget on this very day, we were headed home after making our rounds to announce to family and close friends our good news when Jade looked at me with complete bewilderment and asked "What do we do now?" We both laughed and I told him his guess was as good as mine. This whole experience is a little scary for both of us, in a good way though. We both have great parents, family, and friends, who give us great advice when we need it and are very much there for us. We have so many "first times" to look forward to and are enjoying taking this whole experience one day at a time.
There's a First Time for Everything...
I've wanted to start a blog for a while now. Up until now though, my worry has always been that I wouldn't have enough to talk about to keep one going. So I am beginning my blog in dedication to chronicaling my first pregnancy, and maybe some other random thoughts and things thrown in there as well. So...good luck to me! :)
